Bayanzag – the land of dinosaurs.

Bayanzag in Gobi made me feel like I had entered an Indiana Jones movie. Another spectacular area that left me flabbergasted.

The landscape is red rock, strong desert winds and a dust that hangs thick in the air. The horizon stretches forever and the cliffs blaze red in the sunlight.

The canyons of Bayanzag also known as “The Flaming Cliffs” were named by an American expedition leader in the 1920s.

Roy Chapman Andrews and his team came to Gobi to discover more about the origins of man, but what they found were dinosaur fossils!! The first dinosaur eggs were unearthed here.

I could have spent hours exploring. Again, there’s no one to stop you scrambling all over the canyons (at your own risk). A magnificent paleontological site that left me in absolute wonder.
