Would you believe there is a glacier in the Mongolian Gobi? And I walked across it in crocs!!
This incredible, narrow gorge that runs through Yolyn Am, known as Yol Valley, fills with glacier ice during the winter and remains into the summer months.
It’s found in Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park. The drive takes you through stunning mountains filled with livestock, I even saw a yak (that is unusual) vultures, eagles, and hiding somewhere in the shadows are snow leopards.
The hike to start of the glacier is about 4km. Mongolians don’t like to walk (sounds like the Thais I know 555). So they hire horses. It’s an incredible valley with plenty of water, so it’s also very green
I am not a fan of frozen water, but walking across the glacier through the twists and turns in the landscape was thrill to see and experience. And it was hilarious to watch people fall over constantly.

Hello Darlene, no I decided to avoid it. Crowds are not my thing, and while it would be great to see the sporting event, it is very touristy. I would rather explore the great outdoors.
